And were off again...

Sunny San Diego here we come!  After my nightmare flight on the way home from Seattle back in Feburary I thought I would never fly again, but Im given it another try.  We are visiting my old pastor and his wife whom I have not seen for quite awhile.  When I say we, I mean the girls and I.  Paul is staying home with Heifer and hopefully (fingers crossed) getting some much needed chores done.  Our plan is to make this a 2 sided trip.  A visit and some MUCH needed fun!  Sea World, Zoo, Disneyland, Beach and maybe Legoland are on my itenerary.  I will be there 9 days, so plenty of time to take everything in I hope and spend some quality time with friends:)     I will probably avoid shopping as much as possible as that always makes me stressed with the girls, so not worth it.  However the mall is soooooo close to where were staying, hmmmmm.  I currently have no shorts, no capris and no bathing suit so I have a lot to do to prepare:)  The girls are beyond excited and I have let them know that they will be forced to ride on everything!!!  Mercy meets a lot of height requirements now, yeah!  Im prepared to bribe them or possibly drag them on splash mountain, space mountain, thunder mountain, mattahorn and that river ride over at sea world.  Paul says I can pay them if necessary:)  Mercy acts scared but usually she overcomes it and Justina well she may need to be dragged.

  1. I love San Diego! One of my most favorite cities. Our favorite beach is Coronodo--it doesn't seem to get as crowed as the other ones in the area and if you are lucky you will get to see the military planes flying overhead. Disneyland (okay technically its in California Adventure--I assume you are getting parkhopper tickets if you weren't planning on it do!) has a river ride similar to the one at Sea World. I have been to Sea world several times and it used to be a favorite of ours, but after watching the film "The Cove" (it's a documentary) I can't patronize that establishment ever again.

  2. Actually I was only planning on one day at disneyland so I was not going to hop. I thought I wouldnt even get through one park let alone 2. How easy is it to go to both in one day? Disneyland closes at 9pm on the Thurs that i would go. I thought about possibly going back on Fri but Im staying in San Diego and I heard it takes 2 hours or more with traffic just to get there. Not to mention we will probably be exhausted from a whole day there and 4 hours worth of driving, I may not want to turn around and do it again:) How is the zoo? Worth the money?

  3. It is a two hour drive to disney from San Diego. You could do both parks in one day IF you didn't go on all the rides (only on your absolute favorites) and IF the crowds aren't too bad. I've never been this time of year--best time to go is Jan/Feb (in my opinion). Having said that, there are some really fun rides at California adventure, our particular favorite being Toy Story Mania. I'm not a zoo fan in general, however the SD zoo is the best one I've been to. Be aware that the pandas are a very popular exhibit. The last time we were there the line to see them was at least an hour long. Another option is the Wild Animal Park. I haven't been there since Abby was 9 months old but it was pretty amazing then. I bet it's even better now.

  4. Oh and if you get a chance you should go to Balboa Park. That is where the zoo is located but there is lots more to do than just the zoo. The park has a ton of museums--Ethans favorite: the miniature train museum. There is also an area of town called "Old town" it's totally touristy but it's fun to walk through it. Lots of little tourist shops and some good resturants (especially if you like Mexican food).
